A bookcase loaned to a relative was in a room where she kept cats and now has the strong smell of cat urine, washed and oiled and still smells...help?
Most cats that are about 1 year old do as their told, love to go outside, don't need litter trays anymore and will pur and go on to your knee as soon as you stroke them but not with my cat! My cat is just under 1 year old and hates the outside world, she will do most of her poos outside but her wees are always in the litter tray. if you go up to her to give her a stroke she'll run away and when she does come on your knee she'll pur for a bit but then get all grumpy and try and bite you and scratch you. If she doesn't get grumpy then she's tired and won't pur for you. She always claws at the furniture even if we shout at her she still won't listen and does it again and again. We have sent her to my grandmas for a week at the moment as she's been there before as she used to wee and poos IN the house not in the litter tray but she stopped that a while ago now. She has lots of toys and a scratching post but never uses them. When she gets back we're hoping we can train her better to go outside and not be so naughty but is there a reason why she acts weird? Many thanks x
I know cats like to massage their claws and stimulate them for growth. I have had cats before, but mostly outdoors ones; i only had one indoor cat before and the house was pretty gross so we didn't care about her tearing the furniture apart. Now i have a problem; i have a new 4-to-6 month-old cat i just adopted yesterday and she is going to start tearing up the couches sooner or later. She had been using the berber carpet so far but we don't care about the carpet so much a the furniture. Is there a product that you can reccomend that she will want to use more than the couch? Would it be a good idea to throw some blankets over the furniture to shield the actual furniture? i would love any suggestions
I've had plenty of Kittens and cats before but I've never kept them inside I've always had outdoor cats. Anyways; I don't think the women I'm adopting her from had taught her how to use the litter box, but she might have. If not what are easy ways to litter box train a kitten? Also it's a medium haired cat, so would I have to give it baths like for example I take it outside and it gets muddy. All the cats I've had in the past have been short haired so I never bothered to give them a bath. I know I'll have to groom the kitten like combing it's hair ect. to keep it from getting matted. Also would I have to trim her nails to keep her from scratching my furniture?
my mom bought brand new furniture, & later started working for a healthy old lady. (doing stuff like shopping/cleaning/taking care of her if she got sick) now shes dieing and she wants my mom to have her two 14 year old cats. there GREAT cats, but ruin furniture like lions to a carcus. there too old to get there claws removed. & im pretty sure replaces the plastic claws every few weeks costs a lot of money. what can we do to keep the cats? im REALLY against giving them away, you cant give away something that's alive that you've inherited, i dont think its nice to the person that died because they trusted you with it. .............what can we do? Cathleen: they have a scratching post at the lady's house but they barley use in. khole12: her only family left (shes really old) is her daughter. and even she is getting too old for more pets than she already has. and the lady almost never leaves her house because shes so old, so she doesnt have any other friends to give them to. (my mom's her best friend) there VERY healthy/happy/bouncy/playfull cats. my mom has said if we keep them they'll have to stay in my bedroom (i have a bunk bed & a cat can get up there no problem because theres an end table next to it they can use like stairs) but i do have fish and (pet) rats in here too. but the fish are going back in the livingroom anyway, and the rats are in a a (large) qarium.
